I am new to blogging so this will be interesting.
On the countries quiz, I correctly named 99 countries. I have always been interested in other countries and other cultures, probably because I come from a very multicultural family, so I admit the quiz was rather easy for me.
On the 10 things I understand about child development globally:
1. I understand most parents view their children as a precious gift.
2. I understand most parents love their childrent unconditionally
3. I understand all children have a need to fell loved and safe
4. I understand most children are adventurous and love to learn
5. I understand millions of children live in poverty
6. I understand many, many children go to bed hungry
7. I understand many children begin working at a young age to help support their family
8. I understand many children are sexually and physically abused
9. I understand millions of children lack proper housing, education or health care
10. I understand there are millions of orphan around the world
wow you did really good on the quiz and seem to know a lot of different areas! It is cool that you come from a multicultural family, do you feel you are open to differences more because of your family dynamics? This quiz made me realize that there are so many places that we do not know of and or pay attention to and it made me wonder how people in different countries, especially the ones I am not familiar with, go about their daily life!

I noticed that in your "I understand" statements, you seem to have listed 5 positive and 5 negative statements which were all very interesting to me. Your 5 statements regarding children who are hungry or those who need to work really opened my eyes because I understand it occurs globally; however, it did not dawn on me how much of the world this affects and how truly sad it is and at times unnecessary it seems. For example, I feel that there should be some way to help in order to ensure that children focus on school and do not need to work until later on. I wish there was a way to help out these people now. For your positive statements about what you understand about children and development I agree with those statements and wrote down similar things but the one thing I want to mention is that there is a fine line between adventurous and rebellion and I think the 2 are very close together, wouldn't you agree?
ReplyDeleteI am thoroughly impressed you got so many countries! I could only name ones I had studied, ones on the news, or larger ones. I agree with Lani about your choices of 'I understand'. It is quite interesting that we are shaped by both positive and negative aspects of our lives (in a global sense).
